HELP; I have a lot of interference on my telephone just recently bought the bt hub am i connected wrong ? - telephone extension socket wiring

PLEASE HELP I have recently bought, a center of BT. I am connected to the Internet, but the fine line is'nt my phone, I can not hear, and only someone really Crackley. I sat down with BT, but hav'ent turned to me. I think it has to do with what I am on cable. I have my Cornut up and my phone socket is downstairs. I have an extension cord running up the stairs of my DSL filter on the end that is in place and then my cable modem to the gray filter is connected. i dont no other way to do good? I was told that I need to buy a cable modem to run under the stairs instead of the extension. He also said that the purchase of an Ethernet cable, but does not see how it is when work is not properly connected to the filter or an outreach initiative.
